This handsome Labrador Retriever/Boxer mix is Bob. Shelter staff believes he is about 2 years old. He is a big goofy sweetheart. Not only is Bob lovable, he is super smart. He knows sit, down, stay, shake, other paw and has an incredible re-call. There is no doubt this guy once had a family, someone worked with him big time. Bob adores human companionship and will sit right next to you taking in the world around him. We are currently working on his leash manners but I know he will have that down really soon. Bob would benefit most from an active family.
Unfortunately, Bob is currently on "observation" status at the Carlsbad Animal Shelter due to kennel stress. Get him away from the shelter and you'll have the perfect dog. If you or anyone you know would like to give this gentleman a second chance at life, please contact me for more information or go visit him at the shelter, you will make his day! His ID number is A1481587 and tag number is N032.

Stella
Meet Stella! She is a beautiful 2 year old pittie that currently resides at the Carlsbad animal shelter. This sweetheart is super loving and gentle towards humans and seems friendly towards other dogs, although I have yet to see her interact with one. She is very affectionate and would prefer your full attention all the time, but she is very good at settling by your feet when your busy.
Stella knows sit, stay, come and we are currently working on perfecting her down. She walks very well on leash and would make the perfect running companion. I absolutely adore this girl and hope someone could find it in their heart and home to give her the life and love she deserves. She would love for you to go visit her at the shelter! Her ID number is A1482586 and her tag number is N281.

Jenna has been adopted!
Curled up in the corner of kennel 10 was a sweet pit bull with a beautiful coat... I called "Jenna, pretty girl, Jenna" and slowly opened the kennel door. She slowly lifted her head to look at me. To my surprise, I recognized that face. As she got up and came to the door, I realized it was a dog I got to know well while I was working at the central location. "Oh my gosh, Jenna, I've missed you my sweet girl!" I said to her as I leashed her up and headed for the play yard. Why was she here I wondered to myself.
After spending sometime with Jenna in the yard then on a walk, I sadly put her back as my day at the shelter was coming to an end. On the way out, I ran into Manny, a shelter worker who also used to be at Central. Manny explained to me that Jenna was adopted last year but returned due to the couple going through a divorce. He then began to tell me that the shelters agreed to switch Jenna and Zoe to give them a little bit of a different atmosphere in hopes the right person will find them and adopt. Tiffany, a supervisor, made a joke about switching one deaf pit bull for another... Wait, I totally forgot, Jenna is deaf!
Jenna is about two years old and has a fun loving and spunky personality. She knows SIT with hand commands and walks nicely on leash. This girl responds so well to hand commands and is so responsive to humans, the fact that she is deaf plays such a small role in her life. Jenna has been through a lot and unfortunately shelter life is basically what she knows. She sleeps most of the time in her kennel, just shutting out the world. But any chance she gets to show the world what she is made of, Jenna sparkles in the sun light. If you would like to give this sweetheart a second chance to shine, Please go visit her at the Carlsbad Animal Shelter. She currently resides in kennel 10, her ID number is A1388563 and tag number is N780.

Teddy Bear has been adopted!
This stunning brindle pittie is Teddy Bear. He is about 4 years old and already neutered. Teddy LOVES to play fetch with a tennis ball, he can play forever and always returns the ball to you. He knows SIT, DOWN, DROP IT and walks very well on leash. Teddy Bear not only looks like a bear but he totally lives up to his name... He is sweet as pie. This guy is vert affectionate towards humans and doesn't seem to have much re-action towards other dogs (that can be a very good thing.) Teddy is happy, healthy and looking for a home to call his own.
If you or someone you know is looking for a fun companion, please keep this remarkable dog in mind. For more information on Teddy Bear contact me directly or go visit him at the Carlsbad Animal Shelter. His ID number is A1346677 and his tag number is N768. Teddy deserves another chance at a good life.

Corbin
Seriously, look at that mug! This handsome boy is Corbin. He is a Pit Bull/ Neopol Mastiff and stands about the height of your typical pittie but his paws, shoulders, neck and head are all Mastiff. This guy is said to be about 3 years old and weighs in at 89lbs. He is a perfect example of a gentle giant.
Corbin is the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He enjoys human companionship, but is pretty independent so you do not have to worry about this big boy trying to get on your lap. He really just likes to hang out next to you. The shelter thinks he will do best as an only pet in the home so he can soak up all the attention. He knows sit, down and is learning to walk nice on a leash, Corbin is very strong.
If you or anyone you know is interested in giving this big lover boy the life he deserves, please contact me or go check him out at the Carlsbad Animal Shelter. His ID number is A1454510 and tag number is N754. If you want a big, goofy, awesome and very smart boy, Corbin is your man!

Zoe has been adopted!
Meet Miss Zoe girl! The shelter is pretty convinced she is deaf and I agree. Don't think that holds her back at all though, it just makes her response to hand commands really sharp. She knows SIT, STAY and we are working on DOWN... which she is learning quickly. She walks very well on leash and enjoys sitting next to you while observing the world around her. Her response to other dogs is playful and she can not get enough love from humans.
Zoe has a lot of love to give and needs an owner willing to give the same back to her. The ideal adopter should have a lot of patience and it is crucial that they learn how to use hand commands to communicate properly with her. If this special girl warms your heart please contact me for more info or go check her out at the Carlsbad Animal Shelter. Her tag number is N600 and she is currently in kennel number 1.

Fergie has been adopted!
This beautiful brindle girl is Fergie. She is about one year old, spayed and sweet as can be. Her favorite thing to do is play with her canine friends (she ADORES dogs) and love on her human handler. She knows sit, down and is working on stay.
Fergie's story is heart breaking yet warming at the same time. She went missing from her Dulzura home in September. She had been missing about two months when she arrived as a stray on 11/29/2011 at the County Animal Shelter in Bonita.
While lost, Fergie was apparently hit by a car. By the time she reached the shelter, an injury had healed improperly and she could not use her right rear leg. She was also underweight and dehydrated. Her leg had to be amputated to eliminate her constant pain, a surgery that was made possible by the County’s all-donation Spirit Fund. Her current owner decided he no longer wanted her so, for now, she calls the Carlsbad Shelter home.
Nothing holds this amazing animal back. She is full of energy, enthusiasm and has nothing but love to give. Her ego was not harmed by her owner giving her up, it is most likely the best situation for her. Coming from someone who owns a tripod pittie, I know the connection and understanding that can be had between Fergie and her future human companion, we just need to find the perfect owner. If you think that is you, please contact me or go to the Carlsbad Animal Shelter to meet Miss Fergie. All she needs is someone to love, understand and exercise her to her full potential so she can live out the rest of her life as God intended.
Her ID number is A1392900 and tag number is N467

Maple
Meet the wonderful Ms. Maple. She is the sweetest little old lady at what the shelter thinks to be about 8 years old. Don't let her age fool you though, this girl still has a lot of spunk! Her attitude toward both dogs and humans is very playful and loving. She knows sit, down and walks very well on leash. Maple is a big fan of stuffed animals and after she does a lap around the yard with one in her mouth she always gives it to me, very willing to share.
I am not sure where this precious dog came from or how she ended up at the shelter, but I do know she deserves a loving home to live out the rest of her life in. I worry about her fate if we do not find her a forever home soon.
If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Maple, please leave a comment here or contact the Carlsbad animal shelter directly. Her ID number is A1444561 and tag number is N327. Maple is a fantastic pittie that has nothing but love to give.
